Delivery of NPS2 CLASS2500 WC6 High-Pressure Plug Valves for Overseas Refining Project

ZZJG VALVE has finish the whole production and internal testing work for the new batch of high-pressure plug valves recently. These are 2-inch (DN50) valves with CLASS2500 pressure rating, made of WC6 chrome molybdenum steel. We pick this material specially for high temperature working conditions. After carefully packing, all these valves are shipped to an overseas refinery plant. They will be installed as main cut-off valves for high-temperature hydrogenation pipeline systems. The customer received all goods on schedule, no delay at all.

2. Production & Quality Control Highlights

These valves are cast with ASTM A217 WC6 alloy. This material fits for high temperature service, working stably from -29°C to 550°C. It can handle plenty of tough mediums, like high-temperature steam, hydrogenation feed, hot thermal oil and sulfur-containing process gas. WC6 has two big strengths: great creep resistance and good hydrogen attack protection. That is why it is widely used in refinery hydrogenation units.

Common WCB carbon steel only works under 425°C. But WC6 perform much better above 450°C. It can keep stable strength and creep resistance, not easy to deform in extreme high temperature environments.

Testing Standard: All valves pass strict hydrostatic test follow our factory rules. The valve body is tested at 1.5 times of rated pressure, and the seat seal is tested at 1.1 times of rated pressure. Every single valve has zero leakage in tests. We also provide complete documents, including PMI material spectrum reports, heat treatment records and factory inspection certificates.

Manufacturing Process:

• We use professional WC6 casting material for valve body. Before mass production, every material batch will take PMI spectrum test to confirm the chemical composition is qualified.

• Valve bodies adopt two-step heat treatment, normalizing first then tempering. We strictly control the metal structure and mechanical properties during the whole process.

• The plug core is processed by precision grinding and surface nitriding. It reduce operating torque under ultra-high pressure, very suitable for working conditions with frequent opening and closing.

• All flange surfaces are covered with dust-proof caps. Valves are packed in customized solid wooden crates with moisture-proof function. It can avoid product damage and corrosion during long-distance ocean transportation.

Refinery and coal chemical plants always have very harsh working conditions, with high temperature, ultra-high pressure and corrosive mediums. This plug valve has obviously advantages compare with gate valves and globe valves. It only needs a 90-degree quarter turn to open or close, with fast operation speed.
